A St. Joseph duo claimed the Championship Division of the Missouri Four-Ball Championship held Saturday and Sunday at the St. Joseph Country Club.
Bishop LeBlond alums Jeffrey and Timothy Johnston of St. Joseph captured the Championship Division at 22-under-par 120 after rounds of 59 and 61. Jeffrey also golfed for Missouri Western State University, while Tim is heading into his junior season on the team at MoWest. The Johnston duo closed the tournament by playing the final nine holes in 6-under par to secure a three-stroke victory.
Several other St. Joseph, and St. Joseph area golfers participated in the event as well in the Champions Division. Brad Nurski of St. Joseph partnered with Tom Buffington of O'Fallon and finished tied for third at 16-under-par 120 after hitting 63 in both rounds. St. Joseph's Caleb Carter played alongside Bryan Wright of Stanberry finishing 13-under-par 120 hitting 62 in round one and 67 in round two. The other Johnston brother, Patrick, partnered with Central alum, and fellow MoWest golfer, Jackson Patterson finishing 20th at 8-under-par 120 with rounds of 64 and 70.
Another Bishop LeBlond alum, and MoWest golfer, Brooks Jungbluth alongside Garrett O'Riley, both of St. Joseph finished 5-under-par 120 with rounds of 67 and 70. Justin Bigham and Don Chancey finished tied for 38th at 3-under-par 120, rounds of 69 and 70, while Cameron Fore and Preston Taylor finished 43rd at 1-under-par 120 shooting rounds of 72 and 69. Jake Gile and Troy Rauer were tied for 53rd at 6-over-par 120 with rounds of 71 and 77.
The Net Division of the Four Ball Championship saw a St. Joseph duo make a five hole playoff. Reid Atha and Brooks Schoeneck finished tied for first at 10-under-par with 66 in both rounds. The duo fell in a five hole playoff to Phil Schnieders and Scott Jones of Jefferson City. Along with Atha and Schoeneck, there were also other golfers from the St. Joseph area that competed in the Net Division as well.
Jesse Thrasher and T.J Patterson shot 9-under-par with rounds of 67 and 66. Todd Michalski and Erich Van Cleave finished sixth at 7-under-par shooting rounds of 66 and 69. Reid Barnett and Paul Worley were tied for seventh at 6-under-par with rounds of 69 and 67. Kyle Thomas, of Maryville, and Brad Hubbard of St. Joseph were also tied for seventh at 6-under-par with rounds of 66 and 70.
