Marvin Lee Huey, 88, of Elwood, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. He was born August 24, 1936 in Richmond, MO, son of Stella and Thomas Huey.
He graduated from Lafayette High School. Following high school, he enlisted into the United States Army and served from 1954-1958. On January 3, 1989, he married Hortencia "Tangie" Flores. Marvin spent many years working as a Union Laborer, proudly working on many projects in the area. He was a member of Labors Union Local 579, where he served as a past board member, and member of the VFW Post 6760. He enjoyed spending time at his local pub hangouts and at Big Lake.
Marvin was preceded in death by wife, Hortencia "Tangie" Huey, his parents, bonus children, Rick Allen and Rebecca Gann, siblings, Myrtle Harper, Tom Huey, and Dale Huey, granddaughter, Amber, and great-grandson, Storm.
Survivors include: children, Scott (Tonia) Huey of Platte City, MO, Marla (Jonathan) Martindale of Merkel, TX, Marvina (Billy) Piveral of St. Joseph, Ruthanna Thompson of St. Joseph, bonus children, Marta Allen of St. Joseph and Hope (Mike) Vette, sister, Betty Starcher of Richmond, MO, grandchildren, Chris, Brian, Donnie, Jory, Tolby, Cierra, Angela, Makayla, Hanna, Jack, Rick, and Amanda, and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mr. Huey has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A private family Celebration of Life will be held with a public Celebration of Life to be held at later date.
