William "Bill" Joseph Brooner 88, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at a local health care facility. Bill was born August 13, 1936 in McLouth, KS, son of the late Inez and Charles Brooner.
In 1955 he graduated from Benton High School. He attended the University of Missouri and University of Kansas, where he studied Architecture. On October 20, 1956, he married Bonnie Edson in St. Joseph. Bill drove a truck for Crouch Brothers, and later began his career with Brooner Construction, where he retired as a Superintendent after many years. Bill was a member of Community of Christ Church-Abundant Life Center, where he served as an Elder. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife Bonnie, and he was a member of Missouri Ding-a-lings. He also enjoyed working carpentry and helping others.
William "Bill" was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Dana Brooner, daughter-in-law, Bonni Brooner, siblings, Richard Brooner, Allie Tolbert, Jean Garreth, Carolyn "Pat" Headrick, and Orman Brooner.
Survivors include: wife of 68 years, Bonnie Brooner of the home, sons, Kyle (Irene) Brooner and Kevin Brooner of St. Joseph, grandchildren Kayla Brooner and Kord (Kelsey) Brooner, great-grandchildren, Austyn and Dax, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brooner has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at The Abundant Life Center, where family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Elder Kent Brooner, officiating.
