Funeral services for former St. Joseph Fire Chief Jack Brown will be held this morning.
Brown has died at the age of 75.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brown joined the St. Joseph Fire Department in 1970. Brown won a series of promotions to eventually become fire chief in 2003. He served as St. Joseph Fire Chief until retiring in 2008, ending a 38-year career.
“Jack was a good firefighter. Even while serving as Chief, his heart was on a ladder truck. That’s where he wanted to be – fighting fires from above,” Fire Chief Kenny Cordonnier said in a written statement issued by the City of St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at Meierhoffer Funeral Home in St. Joseph this morning at 10 o’clock.
