A new seminar from the Missouri Western Center for Workforce Development will help business owners eliminate inefficiencies, reduce errors, and drive impactful change within their organizations.
Director Rebecca Lobina says the Six Sigma Training programs are designed, in two different leveled seminars, to help business owners learn the methodology.
"Anytime you think about continuous improvement, process improvement, improving quality for the benefit of improving customer satisfaction, reducing errors, that is all basically an easy way of saying six sigma," Lobina explains on the KFEQmunnity show. "So, six sigma is an actual measurement that means you have reached 99.9966% error free when you're producing a product."
Lobina says this method is primarily used by manufacturers but adds if you are producing any type of product or have any type of process you utilize even in jobs such as the service industry, the six sigma methodology can be utilized.
The seminar will teach the philosophy of the six sigma method, and also how to decode the principles of the method, in the acronym DMAIC
"So D is for define, so define the problem if you will or the challenge going on, then measure it, because obviously to reach 99.99% error free, you're going to have to have a measurement," Lobina explains. "So, you're going to measure those inefficiencies, and then once you have measured it then you analyze your existing process and find new ways you can improve it, and then you go back and figure out if its working or not and continue to improve it until you reach that six sigma level."
Lobina says the benefits of mastering the six sigma method helps reduce operational costs, improve workplace morale, and make your customers happier as well.
The seminar comes in two different levels, the white belt and the yellow belt seminar. Lobina says the main difference is that one is slightly simpler than the other.
"With the white belt, that is the one where you are truly building your foundation, learning the language, learning the concepts, just so that you have a general understanding what six sigma is so you understand it, it's also a starting point for anybody that wants to implement six sigma into their company," Lobina says. "The yellow belt actually requires that you have taken a white belt, and you will actually be able to work on a team that is utilizing six sigma."
The white belt course will be held July 17th and costs $145 to register, while the yellow belt course is on September 10th and costs $245. You can learn more information about each training course on the MoWest Center for Workforce Development website.
