Norma G. Dame 1932 - 2024

Norma Gertrude Dame, 92, formerly of Rushville, Mo died on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, Dec. 18th, 2024, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Marty Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Norma Gertrude Zabel was born on May 21, 1932, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Tull) Zabel. She attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Atchison High School. Norma worked many different places since the age of 13 including the former Hilligoss Greenhouse, Hilligoss Grocery Store, Kresge’s, Fitz Overall Factory, Whitaker Cable Co, St. Joseph, MO and then Saunders Mop Factory for over thirty years retiring in 2002, as a serger. Norma was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a member of Mary’s Circle, Stephen’s Ministry, as a Kennedy Evangelism Caller, taught Sunday School for many years, and served on the Altar Guild. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She was married to Bernard Pyles on Dec. 5, 1948. Mr. Pyles preceded her in death in July 1969. She was later married to William “Bill” Dame for 20 years before they were divorced. Survivors include a son Paul (Tammy) Pyles Rushville, MO, four stepchildren Rick Dame, Atchison, Ronnie Dame, Omaha, NE, Kathy Elias, and Janet Chapman both of Atchison, KS, a sister Mary Elizabeth Miller, Arizonia City, AZ, two granddaughters, Jennifer (Bryan) Lentz, Atchison and Paula (Ryan) Halling, Atchison, KS, and four great grandchildren, Landon and Leah Lentz and Emma and Rylee Halling. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Albert and Russell Zabel, and special friend Bill Emery.
