Clifford D. Carpenter, Sr., 81, of Gower, MO passed away, August 14, 2025.
He was born on November 29, 1943 to Charles and Alene (Harbison) Carpenter in Clarinda, Iowa. He grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Lafayette High School. Clifford then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On July 1, 1967 he was united in marriage to Meredith Hickok. After their marriage they lived in Gower where they made their home. His wife, Meredith, preceded him in death on June 1, 2025.
Clifford worked for the St. Joseph News Press and retired from Kansas City Star.
He was a member of the Gower Masonic Lodge.
Cliff was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Garlock.
He is survived by his children, Clifford Carpenter, Jr, Jeffery Carpenter, Daniel (Claudia) Carpenter, and Angela (Ed) Slussser; grandchildren, Jacob Cassity, Nathan and Collin Slusser; brother, Robert (Virginia) Carpenter; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Inurnment at a later date at Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.
