Missouri Western State University reports a slight increase in
enrollment with 3,824 students on the St. Joseph campus.

Missouri Western officials report overall enrollment increased
by nearly one percent with 800 freshmen or transfer students enrolling for the fall semester.

Most
of the 618 first-time students come from the state of Missouri,
mostly from Buchanan, Jackson, Andrew, and Clay Counties as well as the city of Saint
Louis. Overall, the first-time students come from 17 states.

&nbsp;The top declared
majors are nursing, psychology, management, marketing, exercise science, and
computer science. About half of the new students say they are the first in
their family to go to college.
