Driver rear-ended SUV stopped with with emergency lights activated

BUCHANAN COUNTY —Three people were injured in an accident just before 9p.m. Saturday in Buchanan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2025 Nissan Sentra driven by a 56-year-old Ottawa, Kansas woman was northbound on Interstate 29 in the city limits of St. Joseph.

The driver failed to yield and rear-ended a 2026 Chevy Tahoe that stopped in the passing lane with emergency lights activated.

Buchanan County EMS transported the Nissan driver, her 13-year-old passenger and the 54-year-old SUV driver to Mosaic Life Care. All three were properly restrained, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
