Barry was raised in King City, Missouri. He attended King City High School, where he served as Student Body President, was crowned homecoming king, and was a star on the basketball court. He was also a star basketball player as a Griffon at St. Joseph Junior College.
Barry had an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed the great game of business. He began this journey working for his parents’ family business at the King City Missouri Elevator, went on to open a battery business in Fort Dodge, IA, and a health club in downtown St. Joseph, Mo. He was involved in Real estate, securities, insurance, legal research, politics, and even ran for congress in the 6th District of Missouri. Rex was the co- founder and creator of The American Law Association and represented thousands of clients.
Barry came to know Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior in the early 70’s and spent the rest of his life studying the Word and leading people to Christ. In the past several years, his mission has been to share the good news about personal salvation and eternal life for all who believe by sharing a copy of the New Testament, which he ordered by the hundreds. His commitment to his beliefs was a source of inspiration to many, reflecting a life lived with purpose and devotion.
Barry never met a stranger and had a knack for really getting to know people. He enjoyed dancing, singing and loved spending time with his family. Once you knew him, you could never forget him. He was kind, friendly and had a quick wit. Often, he would challenge and encourage you to discover the things of your heart's desire in a sincere and loving way. Some called him Barry, and some called him Rex. To us, he was our father who we dearly loved and to whom there will never be another. Rest in heavenly peace until we meet again. Love, your family.
