Chester Eugene Long 1927 - 2024

Chester Eugene Long, 97, of Dearborn, MO passed away June 25, 2024.

He was born on January 1, 1927, to Delpha (Bailey) Long in Marshall, MO where he grew up and attended school. He served his country in the U.S. Navy where he served in WWII. After his honorable discharge he returned to Marshall, Missouri where he completed high school. Gene then received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri, in Columbia.

On February 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Emogene Patchin. After their marriage they lived in Columbia, MO, Rock Port, MO and in 1953 they returned to the family farm near Dearborn, MO where they made their home. Emogene passed away on May 4, 2011.

He was a member of the Dearborn United Methodist Church. Gene was also a member of the Platte County Steam and Gas Association and the Edgerton American Legion Post #445.

Gene loved farming, John Deere Tractors and all animals especially cats. He also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emogene Long; his parents Allan and Delpha Kriesel; and his brother Eldon Kriesel.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Patricia Long, Kansas City, MO; brother Ronnie Kriesel; sister Betty Cornine; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Visitation: 12:30-2:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28th at the Dearborn United Methodist Church.

Burial with Military Honors at Dearborn Cemetery.
