Northwest women fall in season opener at Northeastern State 64-56

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat women got their basketball season started on Thursday in Tahlequah, OK against Northeastern State, falling to the Lady Riverhawks 64-56.

The Bearcats did lead at halftime, jumping out to an early 5-0 lead, then spending the rest of the half going back and forth, ultimately leading at halftime 27-26, but the second half was all Riverhawks.

In her debut game for the Bearcat ladies it was Molly Hartnett from Overland Park that led the way scoring 22 points, shooting a very efficient 10 of 16 from the field.  Right behind Hatnett was senior Kylie Coleman with 17 points.

Northwest's men were unable to play their matchup with the Riverhawks after positive coronavirus cases within the Northeastern State men's program, they will play their rescheduled matchup on December 31st in Tahlequah.

Next up for the Bearcats both the men and women will travel to Claremore, OK to take on Rogers State, both men and women lost to Missouri Western, the women will tipoff at 1:30 pm on Saturday, with the men following with a tipoff at 3:30pm
