The Kansas City Royals offense struggled to produce hits once again on Sunday afternoon in Arlington, a day after getting three hits in a 6-0 shutout loss to the Rangers.
The Royals were shutout by the Rangers 4-0 on Sunday, earning just two hits, and for the first time since April 6th fell out of playoff contention. During a long road trip with stops in Anaheim, Oakland, and Arlington, the Royals record was 2-7.
Royals starter Alec Marsh surrendered three runs in the fourth inning, taking the loss on the day. Meanwhile Rangers starter Max Scherzer, a former Missouri Tiger, was brilliant in his first start of the season, giving up just one hit over five innings and earning his first regular season win since September 12, 2023.
The Royals now return to Kauffman Stadium on Monday hoping to turn things around after a rough road stretch, starting a 10 game homestand against the Miami Marlins.
Kansas City's Cole Ragans is set to open the series against the Marlins Roddery Muñoz. First pitch is at 7pm, with pregame at 6:30pm on KFEQ (680AM/95.3FM).
