Arleta Pulley 1935 - 2024

King City, MO: Arleta Pulley, 88, of King City, MO passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at a King City care center.

She was born October 5, 1935 on a farm in the Empire Prairie area the daughter of Lewis and Lorene (Cook) Burke.

On June 24, 1956, Arleta married Richard Pulley at the Star Chapel Church. Arleta graduated from King City High School and went to Northwest Missouri State College for business training. She later obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri Western State College. She also obtained a Masters Degree from Northwest Missouri State University. Arleta taught a year at King City R-1 before teaching Chapter 1 Reading and Math for 9 years for the Blue Hill Home Corporation. She traveled to schools throughout Northwest Missouri in an RV classroom on wheels equipped with computers and other educational resources. She also taught at the King City-Union Star Preschool for 5 years.

Arleta put her faith and trust in God at a young age and this was evident in her life, in her involvement and in her service at the First Christian Church. She loved her family dearly and always looked forward to the holidays with family get- togethers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arleta was involved in many King City area community organizations and activities including DAR, CWF, H.O.P.E. summer reading program and the Tri-County Living History Museum.

She loved music and over the years, played the organ and piano. She gave piano lessons to many youth in the King City community.

Arleta loved traveling. She went on many trips through the U.S., trips to London and Switzerland, as well as outings with the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marion Burke.

Arleta is survived by her loving husband, Richard; sons, Randall (Janet) Pulley of St. Joseph, MO, John (Chris) Pulley of St. Charles, MO and Dan (Julie) Pulley of Fenton, MO; daughter, Judy (Kelvin) Hawkins of King City, MO. Richard and Arleta were also blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, at the First Christian Church, King City, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. Burial will follow in the King City Cemetery, King City, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
