Missouri man dies, another injured after pickup strikes RV

MERCER COUNTY—A Missouri man died in an accident just after 5:40p.m. Monday in Mercer County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Ford F250 driven by Gary L. Sexton, 64, Liberty, was northbound on U.S. 65 one mile north of Mercer.

The Ford was traveling without headlights, crossed the center line and struck the drivers side of a southbound Born Free motorhome driven by Merlin N. Hall, 71, State Center, Iowa, and the motor homes towed 2008 Chevy Trailblazer.

After impact, the motorhome traveled off the road and overturned. Sexton was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported by the Mercer County Coroner to Bethany for the Jackson County Medical Examiner.

Mercer County ambulance transported Hall to the Wayne County Iowa hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Sexton was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
