Marilyn Joyce Fight, 97, of Leavenworth passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 in Lawrence, KS.
Marilyn was born August 23, 1928 to Albert and Laura Swanson in Waterloo IA. She had three younger brothers Donald, Gerald, and O. Jay. She attended elementary school in rural Black Hawk county, IA., high school in Waterloo. and college at Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis, MN where she met her husband Loyd Allen Fight. The couple married on June 15, 1950 in Evansdale, IA
Marilyn worked as a housewife and mother, Sunday School secretary and teacher of several age groups at Northwest Baptist Church in Leavenworth. She also enjoyed singing in the choir and singing solos for church services.
Marilyn loved to read her Bible everyday, gardening, bird watching, and gem hunting. She had also visited the Holy Land with her husband.
Marilyn was preceded 1n death by her husband on February 25, 2012 and tWo of her brothers. Gerald in 2017 and Donald in 2022.
Marilyn is survived by her sor Timothy Fight of Leavenworth, daughter Rebecca Darnell of Santee, CA, daughter Deborah Huffman of Topeka, KS, four grandchildren: Jay (Robin) Huffman of Lane, KS, Shane (Amy) Huffman of Scranton, KS, Richard Dugan of Ramona, CA, Rache. Fontanez of Spring Valley, CA, 7 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother O. Jay of Manti, UT
Visitation will be held at Northwest Baptist Church, 503 S. 18" St in Leavenworth Monday May 11. 2026 from 1 to 2 PM with service to follow at 2 PM at the church.
