John T. Gorbet, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Match 16, 2025.
He was born on April 23, 1944 to George Thomas and Clara (Wilson) Gorbet in Kansas City, Missouri.
John's dedication to learning led him to graduate from high school, a foundation that propelled him into his career as a computer tech, where he was highly respected by his colleagues and peers in the industry. His work not only spoke of his skill but also of his commitment to progress and innovation.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Ann Gorbet, with whom he navigated the journey of life since May 23, 1987; his children Steve Gorbet, Cheryl Surls, Kristin Spencer, Rick Nicoll and Joanna Anderson; his three grandchildren Brittany Rifel (Ben), Chaz Lee Nicoll and Demore Turner; and six great-grandchildren: Greyson Rifel, Jayden Rifel, Mila Nicoll, Layla Rose Nicoll, Elijah and Zerlina, who brought him endless joy, and his brothers in law: Ralph Story, Kent Meilich and Dale Clark (Tammy).
Throughout his life, John embodied the role of a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. While he joins in heaven to his parents, his sister Betty and his brother Leonard. He will be remembered for all those he leaves behind.
