Leslie Albert Auten 77, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his home in St. Joseph, MO. He was born April 28, 1946 in Sheridan, MO, son of the late Florence and Pete Auten.
He graduated from Grant City High School and married Tama Herd on September 24, 1966. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and 16 years with the Missouri Air National Guard is a veteran Viet Nam War. He worked at Wire Rope in the maintenance department, Boehringer Ingleheim, Sara Lee as a Boiler Operator. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his church group, hunting, collecting guns, reloading ammunition, attending car shows with his rebuilt 1965 purple Barracuda but most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of American Legion, CMA Christian Motorcycle Association, serving as the Vice President and Chaplain and the Abundant Faith Church of God serving as the clerk and a Deacon.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, son in law, Jimmy Wilson, brother, Ralph Auten, sisters, Virginia Robison, and Vera Hamblin, brother, Duane Auten and brother in law, Russ Coleman.
Survivors include wife, Tama Auten of the home, daughters, Christa Wilson, St. Joseph, MO, and Dana (Jon) Haywood, Caruthersville, MO, 5 grandson's: Larry Sample III, Spencer (Lauren) Haywood, Casey (Amanda) Haywood, Taylor (Brittany) Haywood, and Chandler Green, sisters, Vivian Coleman, Hopkins, MO, sister in Law, Donita Auten.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 2:00 pm, Monday, October 2, 2023 at the Abundant Faith Church of God, The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
