Preston John Reuther, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, died peacefully in his sleep November 29, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Preston was born January 31, 1948 in Ventura, California. As a child he moved to Louisiana where he spent most of his life. After graduating from Chalmette High School in New Orleans, he became a police officer and attended Loyola University. Later he began designing wire sculpted jewelry, perfecting his craft.

He married Mary Doyle on May 22, 1998 in Hammond, Louisiana and they began traveling coast to coast participating in jewelry shows.

Preston pioneered and showcased the art of wire sculptured jewelry. His passion was making jewelry. He worked tirelessly every day, creating his own unique designs.

In 1994, Preston produced his first of many instructional videos for how to make wire jewelry. He started an online jewelry business and became known as “The Master Wire Sculptor”. Through his videos, Preston taught hundreds of individuals how to use his unique designs to start their own home jewelry making business.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents Thelma Nunez Reuther and Ed Reuther. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary and his sweet dog, Picolino.

Preston was of Christian faith.

Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory. At his request, Preston has been cremated and there will be no visitation or service. The family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Joseph.
