Hayley June McKinney 1987 - 2023

Hayley June McKinney, 35, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

She was born on September 5, 1987, to Danny McKinney and Geraldine Hillebrand in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Hayley worked for Reece-Nichols Ide Capital Realty, LLC for several years.

Hayley was well known for her dedication to serving those in her community, as she volunteered for several organizations, including the Christmas Cheer Program for Kids during the holidays.

She earned the Newcomer of the Year award and the KQZ Person of the Year award.

Hayley enjoyed working outside in her garden and she was especially fond of gerbera daisies. She loved to cook meals for her family and dedicated spending time with her loved ones. She was very involved in her sons extracurricular activities through school and was their biggest fan.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gerald and June Vaughn; grandmother, Sheila Owens; aunts, Ruth Gross, Christine Coleman, Mary Owens, and Debbie Huff; and cousins, Christie Bennett, Shane Williams and Christopher Ringot.

Survivors include her significant other of seven years, Brandon Kelley; children, Jackson Compton, Braxton Kelley, and Leah Wilhite; sister, Jessica McKinney (Bill Graebe); brother, Jacob McKinney; mother and stepfather, Geraldine and Mark Hillebrand, father and stepmother, Danny and Maria McKinney; grandfather, Oliver Owens; nephew, Kevin Whetsell; niece, Danica Whetsell, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. AJ, Dr. Walker, Dr. Amspacher, and all of the nurses/staff at Cancer Center, Dr. Jason Mouabbi and Amber Potter, NP at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and all of the nurses at Mosaic Hospital on the Oncology floor and ICU.

Farewell Services 3:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.  Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
