Missouri landfill operators will soon pay more to dispose of solid waste.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is increasing landfill tonnage fees by 3.5 percent beginning October first. The fee for sanitary landfills and transfer stations will rise from $2.11 to $2.18 per ton.
Demolition and construction landfill fees will increase from one dollar and forty cents to one dollar and forty-five cents per ton. State leaders say the additional revenue will help fund anti-dumping efforts and other waste management programs.
