St. Joseph reports only five new COVID-19 cases

St. Joseph health officials report five new cases of COVID-19, bringing the Buchanan County total to 10,548.

Buchanan County has recorded 182 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began.

Andrew County reports one new case on its dashboard. Andrew County has had 21 coronavirus-related deaths.

Doniphan County, Kansas reports 970 COVID-19 cases.

Mosaic Life Care reports that its COVID-19 patient count is minimal. Mosaic states on its website it will not report a coronavirus patient count until it has more than 10 COVID-19 patients in its system.

Missouri health officials report more than half a million cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, with the latest figure pegged at 508,968. Missouri has recorded a total of 9,005 deaths.

Kansas health officials report 312,591 total coronavirus cases, resulting in 5,053 deaths.

Meanwhile, Kansas is changing its strategy for reaching herd immunity from COVID-19 from holding mass immunization clinics to doctor’s offices and pharmacies give shots. Public health officials say the change will make getting the shots more convenient for some people or tap into their existing trust in their doctors to overcome hesitation about getting vaccinated.
