BROWN COUNTY—Authorities in Brown County are alerting the public to an increase in suspicious activity in rural areas and surrounding counties.
According to Brown County Sheriff John Merchant, "I have had several residents voice concerns about unknown persons and vehicles in different parts of the county. This is not only a concern in Brown County but surrounding areas as well."
" It is unfortunate that we have opportunists who have nothing better to do than drive by looking for something easy to steal from hard working families."
" We have 24-hour patrol who are out and about in rural areas routinely." "Over the last several weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet with community members, discussing ways to enhance security and enabling us to locate and hold accountable those who choose to steal or vandalize."
"The main thing we ask if that if something concerns you, get with us immediately. Also, if you can obtain a tag number, vehicle description or anything that would help us identify the vehicle or persons in question, that would be a great asset.
