The Kansas City Royals have added a former Cy Young winner to the team to add depth to their pitching ranks, signing Dallas Keuchel to a minor league deal the team announced on Wednesday
Per a report from ESPN's Jeff Passan, Keuchel held a workout for the team last week and reached 92 mph on his fastball. The lefty will first head to the team's training facility in Arizona before making his way to Triple-A Omaha.
Keuchel, a two-time AL All-Star and 2017 World Series champ with the Astros, last pitched in the Majors in 2024, when he appeared in four games for the Brewers and had a 5.40 ERA in 16 2/3 innings.
The Royals will be Keuchel's sixth team in the past four seasons. Since his early years with the Astros, which also included his 2015 Cy Young campaign when he went 20-8 with a 2.48 ERA, Keuchel has had stints with the Braves ('19), White Sox (2020-22), Diamondbacks ('22), Rangers ('22), Twins ('23) and Brewers ('24).
For his career, Keuchel is 103-92 with a 4.04 ERA.
