DEKALB COUNTY —One person died following two separate accident just after 5a.m. Sunday in DeKalb County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a Toyota 4-Runner driven by Luci N. Pineda, 34, Farmington, Minnesota, was southbound on Interstate 35 just north of Cameron.
The SUV traveled into the median and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle returned to the road and overturned onto its top in the middle of Interstate 35.
A southbound 2024 Ford Edge driven by Archie Seneh, 34, Kansas City, Missouri, struck the Toyota and Pineda who had exited the Toyota and was standing in the road.
Pineda was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiner's office.
EMS transported two passengers in the Toyota Nexy G. Escobar, 27, and Tefri A. Salines, 27, both of St. Paul, Minnesota, to Cameron Regional Medical Center. EMS transported passengers in the Ford Lindie J. Seneh, 56, Kansas City, Missouri, to KU Medical Center. EMS transported two other passengers in the Ford Regina N. Seneh, 36, and a baby boy both of Kansas City, Missouri, to Liberty Hospital. Archie Seneh was not injured.
Lindie Seneh and the passengers in the Toyota were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP.
