The deadline for applicants to apply for Transient Guest Sales Tax funding has been extended in St. Joseph for organizations until November 1st.

In 2011, St. Joseph voters approved an increase in the Transient Guest Sales Tax to support the promotion of tourism and convention facilities, including eligible capital projects.  The City Tourism Commission reviews applications and makes recommendations to the St. Joseph City Council, which makes the final funding decision.  Applications are evaluated based on priorities including potential economic and fiscal impact, tourism benefits, quality-of-life enhancements, consistency with City plans, public health and safety, maintenance, and the ability to leverage private investment.

Applications are available through the City of St. Joseph’s website on the City Clerk’s page and are also available at the City Clerk’s Office, Room 303, City Hall, 1100 Frederick Ave.  Completed applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by November 1st.  Applicants should review the application, checklist and funding requirements carefully. Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Any questions may be directed in writing to the City’s Legal Department.

In 2027, funding will revert to being available in two cycles. June and December.
