Cattle truck tips over on Highway 36, sending cattle loose near downtown St. Joseph

Highway 36 in St. Joseph has been shut down after a truck with a trailer full of cattle tipped over, injuring the driver, killing some cattle, and sending some cattle loose in the city.

St. Joseph police report about 50 cattle were loose on Highway 36 between 22nd Street and Interstate 229. Highway 36 has been closed to traffic between 22nd and I-229 while an attempt is made to round up the cattle.

The driver was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with unknown injuries.
