Glenn Calhoun May 20, 1930-July 4, 2025

Glenn Lowell Calhoun, 95, passed away on July 4th, 2025 at Abundant Care in Savannah, Missouri.

He was born on May 20, 1930 to Everett and Eula Calhoun in Milan, MO. Glenn graduated from NKC High School in 1948.

Glenn served in the Navy from July 9, 1948 to July 7, 1952. He served aboard The U.S.S. Malabar (AF-37) ship which serviced military bases in the Caribbean, North Atlantic and Mediterranean Seas. After retiring from the Navy Glenn worked at Ford Motors from July 1952 to August 1953. He then worked for General Motors from April 1954 to April 1956. In May of 1956 he joined the NKC Police Dept and worked there until June 1961. He then joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol in July 1961 and was stationed in Chillicothe, MO. He later serviced the Cameron and St. Joseph, MO areas. He retired in June of 1990.

In 1952 he married Beverly McDowell and to this union one daughter, Suzan was born in 1954. She preceded him in death in 1988. In May of 1999 Glenn married Peggy Elliott. She preceded him in death in October 2024.

Glenn was a past member of Caring First Assembly of God and a member of Grace Evangelical Church in St. Joseph, MO. He served as an Usher at Grace Church.

After Glenn retired from the Highway Patrol he spent his time visiting Nursing Homes in Savannah and St. Joseph, MO. He also enjoyed playing golf in Savannah, MO. Glenn and Peggy enjoyed traveling with the Bank and Church Groups on several trips.

Glenn is survived by his daughter Suzan (Jim) Jarrett, Step-daughters Debbie (Kenny) Tanner and Margie (Louis) Long, step-son John Paul Jr. (Nikki) Elliott. He is also survived by grandson Nathaniel (Alyssa) Jarrett, step grandchildren Kyle (Heather) Tanner, Amy (Jimmy) Marriott, Hannah Elliott, John Eric (Tracie) Shepard, Justin Shepard, Jared (Rose) Shepard, 3 great grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren and 5 step great great-grandchildren.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Glenridge Cemetery, Liberty, Missouri. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
