Elfia ‘’Earlene’’ Harris, 85, went home to her heavenly father on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
She was born on October 21, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the Rev. Earl A. and Elfia Vansickle.
She lived most of her life in St. Joseph where she attended Benton High School and was married to James O. Harris from March 31, 1984 until July 16, 2003 when he preceded her in death.
Earlene worked as a waitress and childcare provider before working in the housekeeping department at Methodist/Heartland Hospital where she made many lifetime friends over 25 years of service.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Sing-A-Lings Senior Band until her cancer diagnosis in 2015. She always had a joke or limerick for anyone she knew or just met. She never met a stranger and even if you did not know her, she would convince you she had known you forever.
She loved to sing, play the piano, dance, and watch wrestling every night it was on television!
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Dorla and Desta; granddaughter, Mandie Timmons; and son-in-law, David Scott.
She leaves behind her three daughters, Derrine (Forrest) Frazee, Megan (Ronnie) McAndrews, and Shelly Scott; 8 grandchildren: Brycen, Aaron (Natalie), Mitchell (Mallory), Brittany (Tyler), Alyssa (J.J.), Mallory (Tanner), Cassandra (John), Joshua (Gerardo); 5 great-grandchildren: Haylee (Nalen), McKinley, Briella, Bryler, Rafe; and one great-greatgrandchild, Axton.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
