JACKSON COUNTY, MO. — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in Raytown.
Just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, police officers were called to a residence in the 8300 block of Hedges Avenue in Raytown, according to Captain Dyon Harpe.
Officers arrived at that location and gunshots were heard coming from inside of the residence. A man was seen walking around inside the residence, but he refused officers’ commands to come out, initiating a standoff. SWAT officers were called to the scene.
About an hour later, the man came to the door. He had been shot, according to Harpe.
Officers checked the residence and discovered another man, who had injuries, and was deceased.
EMS transported the first man to an area hospital in critical condition, according to Harpe. Authorities released no additional details early Wednesday.
