Giants break tie in the sixth, pad lead late in win over Royals Monday

(AP) - Alex Wood pitched four-hit ball over six innings, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Kansas City Royals 6-2 Monday.

Thairo Estrada hit a tie breaking RBI single in the sixth and Brandon Crawford doubled in a pair, lifting the Giants to their fourth straight win.

Amir Garrett took the loss in relief for Kansas City, which fell to 20-40 on the season. Whit Merrifield and Bobby Witt Jr. each drove in a run for Kansas City.

Starting pitcher Brady Singer went five innings and struck out five batters, but also walked five while giving up two hits and two runs.

The Royals are back at San Francisco Tuesday night at 8:45 central. Coverage starts at 8 on KFEQ Radio (680, 95.3) in St. Joseph. Kris Bubic will start on the mound.
