Shane S. Smith, 56, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025.
He was born June 19, 1968 in St. Joseph to Larry and Marilyn (Wells) Smith. Shane grew up in St. Joseph, where he attended Helen Davis State School until he was 21, then United Cerebral Palsy for 30-plus years.
Shane loved music, especially country music. He liked to play multiple instruments in his own way, sang in the Storm Choir at Grace Evangelical Church, and was in the Rev’d Up band with his friends.
Shane enjoyed bowling and was in the SOMO Rise League. He also medaled in Special Olympics bowling. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends in Texas and hanging out with his dad at the Eagles Lodge, where Shane was an honorary member.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Smith; and grandparents, Herman and Mable Smith, Harry Wells and Lucille Crider.
Shane was a loving son, grandson, brother and uncle, who delighted in spending time with family and friends. He spread joy to all those around him, saying “I love you” to everyone, even his doctors and nurses.
Survivors include his father, Larry Smith; sisters, Suzanne Shepherd (Mark), and Kelly Romeiser (Robert); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; other extended family and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
