Jimmie LaFave, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026.

He was born September 7, 1940 in St. Joseph to Jule and Leona (Jackson) LaFave. He grew up in St. Joseph and attended Lafayette High School.

Jimmie was in management at Wire Rope for many years.

In his younger years, Jimmie loved to play tennis and later liked to watch it on TV. He enjoyed going on car rides, woodworking and making furniture, watching Westerns – especially John Wayne movies – and boy, did he love his sweets.

An outgoing person who never knew a stranger, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and enjoyed his ornery side as well, playing pranks on family members.

Most of all, Jimmie was a big family man who was strong in his faith in the Lord. He loved getting together with the whole family, especially at Christmas. He leaves a legacy of love, laughter and memories for all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dezra Lynn LaFave; siblings, Noah LaFave, Jule LaFave, Jr., Richard LaFave, Agnes Frakes, Alean Majors, Victoria Wilson, Darlene Phelps, Phyllis Dowlen, Floyd LaFave, Rex LaFave, Clarence LaFave, Jerry LaFave, and Allan LaFave; and former wife, Carolyn Rose LaFave.
