A major fundraiser for the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be held Friday evening.
Museum Executive Director Eric Fuson says this year’s theme for the Pot of Gold Arts Gala and Auction is “Roaring into the 20s,” inspired by the Roaring 20s a century ago.
“Put on your duds and come on out,” says Albrecht-Kemper Executive Director Eric Fuson. “We’ll party down in the speakeasy and a big dinner upstairs. It’s going to be a lot of fun, a lot of fun.”
The Pot of Gold Gala begins at 5:30 Friday evening at the museum located at 2818 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph.
There will be 1920s Prohibition-era specialty cocktails, a speakeasy taproom, both a silent and live auction, and live music.
Museum Communication Manager Jill Carlson invites you, if so inclined, to dress the part.
“A very specific aesthetic, so think glitz and glamor, old Hollywood, also, if you have a felt hat that you want to put on, a zoot suit if you will,” Carlson says. “All are welcome.”
This is the 43rd Pot of Gold Gala and Auction, an annual event interrupted last year by the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, the theme, “Roaring into the ‘20s,” was specifically designed to coincide with the year 2020.
Fuson says the event is very important for Albrecht-Kemper.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” according to Fuson. “With COVID and everything that has been going on, these fundraisers have been kind of difficult to put on. So, this is the first one we really have been able to put on since COVID came around. It’s so important to fund what we do.”
The event raises money for Albrecht operations as well as the educational programs the museum offers to 1,500 students per year. The museum raises money through admission to the gala as well as a silent and a live auction.
