Missouri Western corner and All-American Sam Webb will continue his football career in the NFL.

Webb, an Excelsior Springs native, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday afternoon following the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Webb was a first-team all-MIAA selection in 2019 and preseason All-American in 2021. He finished his time at Missouri Western with 109 career tackles, seven career interceptions and 39 passes defended. He also blocked four kicks in his career and had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in an unofficial game with Pitt State in 2020.

Webb laid down a 4.48-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He was one of only two Division II players to get a combine invite.

His 6-1, 200-pound frame and appearances in both the Hula and Shrine Bowls in the offseason caught the attention of an increasing number of scouts.

"He needs to transfer his physical coverage style over to his run support if he wants to stick around as a developmental press corner," said NFL.com on his draft overview.

Webb is the first Griffon to sign as an undrafted free agent since Jonathan Owens did so in 2018, and now becomes the fourth active Missouri Western alum in the NFL, along with Owens, Dallas kicker Greg Zuerlein and recent Chiefs signee Brandin Dandridge, who came over from the CFL this past February.
