Two men killed in a plane crash Monday night in Grundy County have been identified.
Officials say 82-year old Philip Joseph Lefevre, Sr. of St. Louis and his son, 47-year old Philip Joseph Lefevre, Jr. of Sunset Hills, Missouri died in the crash.
The bodies were recovered Tuesday afternoon after a search found the wreckage of the single-engine Cessna airplane in a timber area about five miles southwest of Humphreys.
A preliminary FAA report says the plane was trying to make an emergency landing in a field when it hit a tree.
Authorities were notified when the plane disappeared from radar around 10 p.m. Monday.
The plane took off in St. Louis and was on its way to Kirksville. It landed for a brief time in Moberly before crashing in eastern Grundy County - about 45 miles off track.
