Maryville woman hospitalized after truck's axel strikes windshield

ANDREW COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 9a.m. Friday in Andrew County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Volvo semi driven by Wendel Turk, 61, Cantonment, Florida, was northbound on Interstate 29 in St. Joseph.

The vehicle lost an axel. The axel traveled across the median into the southbound lanes and struck the windshield of a 2016 Toyota Avalon driven by Becky L. Jones, 65, Maryville.

The axel traveled back across the median and struck the windshield of a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Richard A. Sites, 71, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Andrew County EMS transported Jones to Mosaic Life Care. Sites and Turk were not injured. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP.
