Penny Louise Evertson Andre was born on September 23, 1951, and left this earthly world on November 15, 2025. Penny was born and raised in Platte County, Missouri, where she lived most of her life until she moved to the farm in Brookfield, Missouri.
She was the second of nine children born to Raymond Lee and Thelma Louise Martin and is affectionally known as Fox #2.
Penny knew the meaning of hard work which started with working on the family’s truck farm raising and selling vegetables. During her years as a single parent, she worked at the Platte City Post Office and cleaned the Platte County Court House and other office buildings in Platte City. After her retirement from the post office, she became an insurance agent for Missouri Farm Bureau where through her hard work, she built a very successful business. After that retirement and her move to Brookfield, she worked as a “lunch lady” being threatened with termination for giving favors to the school kids with no money in their accounts. After moving to Smithville, she worked serving hotel guests their breakfast until she retired for the last time after her marriage to Larry Andre.
Penny loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to go on a trip. She made yearly trips to Branson and she and Larry had recently traveled to Destin, Cancun, and Alaska to name a few. She never missed her grandchildren’s activities even when she was 2 hours away. She kept the roads hot from Brookfield to Platte City and never missed a family function.
She loved to shop and decorate her home with her treasured antiques. One of her hobbies that she shared with her mother and sisters was ceramics. Another was the casino and scratch offs. She and Larry also enjoyed music and fishing on the lake.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Andre, Smithville; two daughters, Gina Ponessa, Warsaw, and Dina Edwards, Kansas City; grandchildren, Blake Petersen, Jessie Edwards and Jackson Ponessa; her mother, Thelma Martin; and sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers and brothers-in-law, Sharon Brandt, Vicky Fugett, Nancy Peek, Patti (Jerre) Blankenship, Liz (Randy) Canole, Buddy (Sheila) Martin, Kevin Martin, Linda Andre Powell, Terri Sandretto, and John (Jan) Andre.
