Southbound I-29 has re-opened to traffic after construction crews finished the renovation of the Cook Road bridge in St. Joseph.

The Missouri Department of Transportation closed I-29 within the St. Joseph city limits the past couple of weeks while crews from Clarkson Construction put the finishing touches on the Cook Road bridge repair. The northbound lanes closed last week. The southbound lanes closed this week. MoDOT re-opened the southbound lanes of I-29 Thursday evening shortly after announcing the Cook Road bridge work had been completed and Cook Road re-opened.

The project replaced the driving surface of the Cook Road bridge and added a sidewalk on the south side. The City of St. Joseph also allocated funds to enhance the aesthetics of the bridge by adding decorative fencing and concrete.
