St. Joseph man found guilty of child molestation Wednesday

A St. Joseph man has been found guilty of child molestation and will now have a July sentencing.

39-year-old Miguel Coreas was found guilty of fourth-degree child molestation Wednesday in front of Division 3 Circuit Court Judge Patrick Robb.

Coreas was arrested last August and was booked at the Buchanan County Jail.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kristina Zeit called eight witnesses to testify during the trial Tuesday, including the victim, who was 16 at the time of the offense.

Sentencing has been scheduled for July 26 at 2 p.m. Coreas faces up to four years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
