BUCHANAN COUNTY—A Kansas man was injured in an accident just before 10:30a.m. Wednesday in Buchanan County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by Joshua R. Lane, 40, Leavenworth, was northbound on Interstate 29 one mile south of St. Joseph.
The pickup traveled off the west side of the road and continued northbound in the median. A passenger in the vehicle John C. Cheatham, 57, Leavenworth, jumped out of the pickup into the passing lane and was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene of the accident.
The pickup then struck a barrier and came to rest in the median. Buchanan County EMS transported Cheatham to Mosaic Life Care. Lane was not injured and properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
