Missouri man dies after violent rollover crash

GENTRY COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 2:30a.m. Wednesday in Gentry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Dodge Charger driven by Nicholas R. Merrigan, 38, Clarksdale, was southbound on U.S. 169 two miles south of Stanberry.

The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The car crossed the center of the road, traveled off the east side of the road, struck a utility pole, became airborne, struck the ground, became airborne again, crossed 460th Road, struck the ground on the east side of the 460th Road, rolled, crossed 372th Street and came to rest off the road.

A passenger in the car identified Michael H. Perman, 44, King City, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Robertson Funeral Home in Stanberry. 

Grand River EMS transported Merrigan to Mosaic in St. Joseph. Perman was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
