Phyllis J. Nitschke, 84, Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024.
She was born December 20, 1939 to Cecil and Emma (Robinson) Rose in Maybeury, West Virginia.
Phyllis was united in marriage to her second husband, Oscar J. Nitschke, on March 29, 1985.
She was a registered nurse for over 50 years. During that time, she worked in several nursing careers providing dignity and care to thousands including home health care, Director of Nursing in several facilities and ending her career teaching nursing classes.
Phyllis enjoyed spending her time crocheting, quilting and watching Walker Texas Ranger and the Kansas City Chiefs. Some of her favorite entertainers were Mickey Gilley, Tom T. Hall, George Jones and of course John Denver singing one of her all time favorites, "Take me Home Country Roads".
She was preceded in death by her second husband of 35 years, Oscar Nitschke; parents, Cecil and Emma Rose; her sister and brother-in-law DeLisle and George (Mel) Lambert; brother-in-law Lewis (Bud) Sharpe; sister-in-law Sybil Rose, and previous husband Harold Rushing.
Survivors include her children, Michael Malone of Jefferson City, Missouri, (Hallie Malone), William Rushing (wife, Kristy) of King George, Virginia, Belinda Bates (husband, Bill) of Jefferson City, Missouri; stepchildren, Bonnie Nitschke of Tacoma, Washington, Ronnie Nitschke of Tacoma, Washington, Donnie Nitschke (wife, Carrie) of Puyallup, Washington; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Bobbie Sharpe of Lubbock, Texas, Roger Rose of Princeton, West Virginia, and Brenda Blumenthal (husband, Mark) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
