Charles "Chuck" Michael Freeman, a resilient soul who navigated life with grace and humor despite enduring challenges, peacefully departed this world on March 5, 2024, at his home. Born on July 15, 1946, in San Angelo, Texas, Chuck was the beloved son of Leonard Calvin Freeman and Opal Ann Freeman. Alongside his sister, Janelle (Aldrich), Chuck's childhood was marked by the transient nature of military life, as their father's service in the Air Force led them to various installations across the United States, even to North Africa.

Chuck's educational journey led him to graduate from Alamogordo High School in New Mexico in 1966, followed by a brief stint at New Mexico University. At the age of 22, Chuck encountered a life-altering motor vehicle accident, resulting in disabilities that necessitated lifelong care. Undeterred by these adversities, Chuck embraced life with a spirit of resilience and joy.

In the tapestry of his life, Chuck cherished the role of father, finding immense pride in walking his daughter, Kimberly Ann, down the aisle on her wedding day. His dedication to family extended beyond blood ties, as evidenced by his unwavering commitment to the Northwest Missouri Chapter of the Brain Injury Association. Chuck would collect and sell aluminum cans with the proceeds benefiting the group.  During summers, Chuck enjoyed attending the Association’s Camp Wonderland in the Ozarks.

A devout member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, Chuck's faith was a guiding force in his life. His playful spirit found expression in the simple joys of playing cards, particularly relishing games of Rummy where he would concoct his own rules. Chuck's mischievous wit endeared him to friends and acquaintances, as he delighted in harmless pranks.

An unabashed connoisseur of sweets, Chuck reveled in indulging his notorious sweet tooth with ice cream shakes, chocolates, Fig Newton's, and strawberry Pop-Tarts.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, LC and Opal, and his sister, Janelle. He leaves behind his daughter, Kimberly Arambula, her husband Michael Hernandez, and granddaughters Mariah and Candice Arambula, all residing in Silver City, New Mexico. Chuck is also survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. M.T. Aldrich, niece Kara (Brian) Hicks of St. Joseph, and Kristin (Holland) Humphrey of Leawood, Kansas, along with several grandnieces and nephews.

Since 2003, Chuck has been supported by Choices of St. Joseph, whose compassionate care allowed him to lead an independent life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Choices organization and its dedicated staff for their unwavering support and kindness throughout the years.
