The Missouri Western women’s basketball team (9-0) came out firing on all cylinders Tuesday night, taking down William Jewell 98-34 at the MWSU Fieldhouse.
The 64-point margin is the largest ever for Missouri Western women's basketball against a DII opponent.
Six Griffons finished in double figures, led by Brionna Budgetts with 13. Corbyn Cunningham had 11. Jordan Cunningham and Connie Clarke scored 10.
With the game well in hand in the second half, head coach Candi Whitaker was able to give her younger players significant minutes in the contest.
Freshman Abby Bala knocked in 11 points on 4-5 shooting in just 10 minutes, adding two assists. Freshman Alyssa Bonilla grabbed three rebounds, a steal and an assist to go with 10 points.
In all, 15 Griffons played and 15 Griffons scored.
"I wanted to play a bunch of people," Whitaker said. "I'm really happy with the minutes spread across our team. Happy with the defensive effort with whoever was on the floor, and sharing the basketball. We continue to make extra passes."
The Griffons finished with 19 assists to just 10 turnovers Monday, while also holding William Jewell to 24.5 percent shooting and forcing 25 Cardinal turnovers.
Missouri Western returns to conference play on Saturday, traveling to Northwest Missouri State. Tipoff against the Bearcats is set for 1:30 p.m.
