Julia Kay (Meadows) Gatton, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
She was born September 30, 1948 in St. Joseph to Harold and Dorothy (Hutchison) Meadows. She was a 1966 graduate of Central High School.
Julia married Frank C. Gatton on April 6, 1968. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1990.
She worked in production at Mead Products for 26 years, then worked at Nestle-Purina for seven years before retiring.
Julia loved to craft, and was up for any road trip or to go shopping. She also loved her dogs very much. She was very active in Relay for Life and cancer walks. She loved being outdoors, whether it was gardening, tending to her flowers, or just sitting outside enjoying the peace.
An outgoing woman who loved people, Julia was definitely the cool mom whom all her children’s friends called “Mama Julie.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and siblings, Deborah Trail and Marilee Montgomery.
Survivors include her children, Christine Crabtree (Carlton), Marcia Gatton (Chad), and Frank Gatton; grandson, Brock Crabtree (Cassie); great-grandson, Jaxson Crabtree; siblings, Sandra Henry, Marc Meadows (Donna), and Brenda Hitchens.
