Yulonda Haynes, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023.
She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on August 14, 1934. Yulonda graduated from Benton High School in 1952, and later attended Vanderbilt University where she earned her master’s degree in psychology nursing.
On Valentine’s Day 1953, Yulonda was united in marriage to Hubert “Jack” B. Haynes. He preceded her in death.
Yulonda worked as a clinical nurse specialist, now known as a nurse practitioner, for many years. She worked at the VA Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she pursued her passion of helping veterans. Yulonda also worked as a traffic manager for Gray Manufacturing.
She was a longtime member and past president of Toastmasters International, member of the American Nurses Association, and proud alumni of Benton High School class of 1952, of which her classmates continued to meet for monthly luncheons.
Yulonda enjoyed travelling and spending time with her beloved family. Yulonda’s mission in life was to bring others to the Lord and encourage them to be saved. She dedicated her life to the Lord and her faith. She was a member of Grace Calvary Chapel, where she was very active in many church activities.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Hogan, husband, Hubert “Jack” B. Haynes, and granddaughter, Tiffaney Haynes.
Survivors include her children, Linda Bowers (Jim), Jack Haynes (Sheila), Ben Haynes (Shelley), Diana Slawson (Dave), and Rhonda Haynes; grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Ben (Julie), Matt (Cody), Megan, Shannon (Chris), Heather (Chase), Ashley (Ryan), Wesley, Hubert (Kym), Whitney, Brittney, Joey (Sarah), Alex (Kristen), Torie and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Corbin, Landri, Skyler, Benjamin, Adelynn, Ellen, Junie, Calvin, Simon, Geneveve, Kaia, Dean, Isla, Judd, Micah, Kadence, Kameryn, Matthew, and Rhema.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will gather with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
