Wayne Echterling, 74, passed away peacefully in his Texas home on March 19th. Born on November 19th, 1949, Wayne lived a life full of purpose, service, and humor, touching many lives along the way.
Wayne was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Elvin and Etta-Fern Echterling and shared his childhood home with his brother, Ronald Echterling. After several years of dating, Wayne married Mary Curry in 1973. Together they build a life together, raising two daughters, Cortnie and Kristyn.
Wayne practiced dentistry in St. Joseph. Perhaps Wayne’s most proud achievement, aside from his family, was serving his country and leading the 139th Airlift Wing as the Medical Commander.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his beloved dog, Milo; daughters, Cortnie (John Scott) and Kristyn (Sean Savage); three loving grandchildren: Mako, Katelyn, and Moorea; his brother Ronald (Debbie); numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends. He is proceeded in death by his son-in-law, Tyson Sampson; lifelong friend Richard Rosalie; both parents; mother-in-law; many beloved pets and numerous close friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
