Carlton Charlie Albert 1935 - 2024

Carlton Charlie Albert (Red) 89, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024.

Carlton was born March 19, 1935 in McCoy, Virginia. He was the first of six children born to Charlie and Dorothy Albert. He graduated from Blacksburg high school in May 1954. 

He enlisted into the Army December 1954 with a childhood friend in hopes of playing on the Army football team. His service placed him at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas with duties as an MP until 1956 and he retired in 1998,

He enjoyed pheasant hunting, spending time with family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. 

He and his wife Dixie enjoyed traveling and spending time together. First and foremost, he served God. He was very active in the church and multiple groups and organizations. He shared the gospel on a daily basis.  Virginia “HOME” was always in his heart. He returned home as often as possible. He said the air was better there. Dixie was the love of his life. His family was very important to him.

Carlton was preceded in death by his son David Albert. step daughter Cindy Perez, great grandson Mason Lewis. Parents Charlie and Dorothy Albert, sister Treva Quesenberry, brother Garnett Albert, sisters-in-law Loretta Albert, Shirley Albert and Joyce Michael, brother-in-law Roy Michael and Lawrence Poppel.

He is survived by his wife Della Albert (Dixie), children Joseph Albert, James Albert (Elizabeth) Susan Lewis (Mark), eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, brothers Clarence Albert and Troy Albert, sister Joy Nester, special nephew Bernard Nester and many nieces and nephews.

 Committal service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 9 A.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
