With two months under its belt, the new St. Joseph City Council is finding it's groove in working together.
With a mix of incumbents from the previous council, such as Andrew Trout, Marty Novak, and Madison Davis among others, and new faces like Mayor Larry Miller, Deputy Mayor Gary Wilkinson, and Collin Clibon.
At Large City Councilmember Randy Schultz says everyone has really hit the ground running. He adds that having that mix of old and new is helpful.
"You kind of start over but you don't, because things are always in motion in this city, so you bring them along, like Jason Eslinger," Schultz says on the KFEQmunnity show. "He's only been on two years, so he's really a newer councilmember too and he brings great ideas, so you look at it and they have a fresh perspective that you were working on something but they can say hey what about this or let's look at this avenue, and that helps sometimes spur that conversation along."
Schultz says, thus far, everyone on the council gets along in sharing their ideas, led by new Mayor Miller
"It's a different dynamic from the last Mayor, Larry lets the ideas flow so it's more of an open meeting and there's a lot of different ideas that come out of that," Schultz explains. "So, it's just a different structure, and that's Larry's style, it's his council to run, it's more laid back, and I think that's good."
Overall, the council has the mission in mind to continue bettering St. Joseph, pontificating on new ideas, and expanding on old ideas to enhance the city.
